FAQ
What if my dog isn’t very well behaved? I don’t think he will cooperate for a session.
All of the pups you see on my pages are regular companion dogs, not obedience champions! They probably don’t respond to sit or stay. I’m accustomed to this and use camera settings which capture split second expressions and behaviors. We will spend time at the beginning of the session to get them familiar with both myself, my assistant, and the sound of the camera shutter, so they feel at ease. In addition, all dogs are photographed with leashes on. These will then be removed in Photoshop once the final image choices are selected.
What if I want to be in some of the photos with my dog or horse?
Of course! This is something we will discuss at our pre-session consultation, along with what type of outfits will look best next to your four-legged best friend.
I have more than one dog or horse; can you photograph them all at the same time?
The Signature Session is designed for a single dog or horse. If you have multiple family members you need to include, please contact me for a custom retainer quote.
Can you take photos of our kids/family during the session?
Since I am a dog & horse photographer, the focus of my work is on four-legged family members. If you are looking for someone to take child or family portraits, let me know and I can recommend a portrait photographer for you.
How do I choose a location?
First, a beautiful location is very important in the final look of your photos. We then need to consider where your dog or horse is most comfortable. For dogs, I recommend a local park, forest preserve or urban area like downtown McKinney. Dog parks are not ideal as it is hard for your fur-kid to pay attention to the camera with other dogs running around them. For horses, your barn will be our best location but if you would like to trailer to a horse-friendly spot I am willing to check it out prior to our session for feasibility.
How far will you travel for sessions?
I am based in Allen, TX and service the North Dallas area with no extra charge. However if you are more than an hour away from the Allen area, please contact me and ask for a travel quote before booking.
What if the weather is bad on our session day?
The type of images I photograph depend heavily on natural light. If the weather isn’t agreeable (not enough sunlight due to rain or heavy clouds, threat of rain or storms, or weather that is unsuitable to work in, etc.), then we will reschedule your session to another day. We might need to reschedule if it is excessively hot or very windy to keep both you and your four-legged family comfortable!
